Our Solution
Competition helps kids in many ways. They may ask to participate in the activity again,
- be able to win and lose gracefully, learn new skills, and want to better themselves
- enjoy improved self esteem. In other words, competition can make kids want to do something just to win.
We want to get an elementary school to partner with us, to further encourage kids to compost. Our plan is to make a composting competition. We will place 6 bins (for the six grades) outside the school for kids to place there compost scraps in.
What next?
Once we've found a school to partner with, we will make an announcement to the kids at the school explaining how the competition works, and what the prize for the winner is. Stay posted on our daily process!
Hopefully after this contest, the kids will continue composting and teach their families how to. To take notes throughout this process we will be recording how many bins of compost scraps are filled.
